Trauma and 2020

Yet another sad day of 2020 where people of Kerala handle the trauma induced by a #planecrash amidst heavy rains and Covid.

As I lie awake checking the casualty stats, I pray for all the families facing a tough time.

While reports on exact cause of crash is being awaited, live comment from a surviving passenger informed that initial attempts to land were botched because of heavy rains.

The first half of the plane got totally damaged in the crash and hence most causalities are from passengers from the front section. The ones behind, including him, felt lucky that atleast the plane didn’t catch fire.

The year altogether has been iterating and drilling into #human #psyche one simple fact – #life is short, and is transient. People who you #love or hold close might not be there tomorrow, so love them right when you still have time

Reminds me of Charles Hanson Towne’s poem –

“Tomorrow,” I say, “I will call on Jim,
Just to show that I’m thinking of him.”
But tomorrow comes–and tomorrow goes,
And the distances between us grows and grows.

Around the corner!–yet miles away…

“Here’s a telegram, sir…”
“Jim died today.”

And that’s what we get, and deserve in the end:
Around the corner, a vanished friend.

Wishing health and safety for all!
